A flower grows in a garden. It is small. Blue. It doesn't really have any attributes to make it extraordinary - it's just a small blue flower. It springs up in a world of roses, and it thinks itself inadequate. The roses are big and red. It wants to be a rose.
Then the gardener comes and prunes the roses.
Insecure.
It's amazing how we think we're the only one's who are it. Egocentricity causes us to think all too highly of oneself - this is true - but the other face of it's ugly head is that of self-depreciation. We are egocentric enough to think that only we are the goofballs, the shamed ones, the little blue flower in a world of roses.
But like the little blue flower - why do we wish to be roses? We see all the other people who are "so much more put together" and we desire to be them. Like any cultivated item - those people too must be pruned. In the same fashion - both the blue flower and the roses are plucked.
And in the end we see that it's not how you appear on the outside - but who you are on the inside. It's not whether you are a blue flower or a rose or a person or a cat - it's that - for the fleeting time that you get here on earth - you are.
And so the question to ask then is:
Are you?
Then the gardener comes and prunes the roses.
Insecure.
